The Nixon Free Form collection is a combination of three independent gadgets designed by Evan Miller. Designed as a booster for comfort and style, the set includes a watch, a wireless headphone and a phone case. The products are generally geared towards the snowboarder, keeping in mind the harsh and inhospitable environments they would be inevitably exposed to.
The Watch
The dial of the watch reminds one of the Tri-Star of Mercedes Benz. A gear could have been the source of inspiration of the dial either. The concept watch takes a minimalistic look using LEDs to declare its style. Cool bright LEDs present the time on the dial irrespective of the light around. The user need not press any button to make the LEDs glow to reflect time.
The strap or band of the watch seems to be inspired by the ‘Star-Trek’ series. There are two layers of silicone in the band, the inside layer is soft for comfort and elasticity and the exterior one is harder for protection. The locking mechanism of the watch is stylish as well, a button protruding on one-side fits into any of the grooves on the other side. The locking arrangement is magnetic to ensure the watch remains strapped in place.
The Headphone
The design of the watch dial and the large ear pieces of the headphone are almost the same. The overall appeal of the headphone is its simple, but rather futuristic exteriors. The user can enjoy music with absolute ease by using buttons on the side of an earpiece to control the music player. The headphone utilizes Bluetooth technology to connect to the sound source – an mp3 player or your phone.
Speakers are detachable from the band to make it packing and folding of the gadget easier. The size of the band is adjustable easily, thanks to the ball-bearing spring. A built-in solar panel on top of the band helps it conserve energy and last longer.
The Phone Cover
The case screws-on to give the user’s phone proper protection. The protective layers will prevent the phone from damage from a fall. The cover is water resistant as well. The stylish cover protects the phone inside from harmful radiations by absorbing them. On the rear, the user can place his cards and a ball-bearing spring ensures that they remain there.
Usage, style, ergonomic design and protective features define these gadgets. The Nixon Free Form collection is Evan Miler’s one of the coolest and attractive designs.
