B&O presents BeoPlay A9 wireless speaker system

Extending its range of high end audio systems, Bang & Olufsen has come up with an active speaker system called the “BeoPlay A9” that integrates a 2.1 bass reflex loudspeaker system with five dedicated speakers, including an eight-inch woofer, two three-inch mid-ranges and two 3/4-inch tweeters, and amps to produce surround sound. The wireless speaker system also features a status light and a power button, separated by a long touch-sensitive strip, to adjust the volume, while a pop-off cap hides a USB port and a 3.5mm jack underneath.

Incorporating an enhanced DSP (digital signal processor) algorithm boasting Adaptive Bass Linearization technology to allow superior bass, the three-foot wide speaker can play music through AirPlay and DLNA device wirelessly.  Hiding the class D amplifier, producing 160 watts to power the eight-inch bass unit, at the rear, the luxury speaker can be positioned in a corner, hung against a wall, or on its legs to produce three pre-set sound modes. Scheduled to be delivered by the second half of November 2012, the BeoPlay A9 will be available at Bang & Olufsen stores and the Apple online store for $2,699.
